Markie Hayes is a marketing director, professional shark tooth hunter, and a picture book author. She is a former children’s clothing designer with a passion for scratching her creative itch. Since she was a wee-one, Markie has been trying to entertain others and never misses the opportunity to try and make friends, family, and strangers laugh. 

WRITING

Markie is the creator of #ViralKidLit, a weekly Twitter event that spotlights one member of the KidLit community by flooding twitter with celebrations of that week’s creator. 

Picture books have been the bridge that has connected her and her son and she’s excited to share her own stories with the world. Outside of writing, Markie has been on a lifelong quest to unearth a megalodon tooth to add to her collection, but also enjoys spending time with her husband and son in North Carolina where they live.
